In the event announcement released by the Thelonious Monk Institute advertising The Fifth Internationsl Jazz Day for April 30, 2016 (see announcement on the PoJ.net Event Home page), Herbie Hancock claims that "people find common ground and communicate through the values inherent in jazz."
